H.B. 2528  RELATING TO SAFE DRINKING WATER               LRE, JDC
HD2        Raises penalties for violations of chapter 340E,
        Hawaii Revised Statutes.

H.B. 2529  RELATING TO SAFE DRINKING WATER               LRE, WAM
HD2        Modifies the definition of "water treatment plant" to
        allow for a distinction between certification
        requirements for water treatment plant and
        distribution system operators.

H.B. 2530  RELATING TO AIR POLLUTION CONTROL PUBLIC      LRE, WAM
HD1        NOTIFICATION
        Clarifies that the department of health needs only
        publish notification for participation in air
        pollution control matters once in the county affected.

H.B. 2619  RELATING TO NOISE                             LRE, TIA
HD2        Allows construction and maintenance work on the
        freeway and freeway ramps between Nuuanu avenue and
        Sixth avenue on Oahu to temporarily exceed state noise
        standards without a variance from the director of
        health.

H.B. 2895  RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTS   LRE, WAM
HD1        Amends the environmental impact statement law by
        amending the definition of "environmental impact
        statement" or "statement" to include effects on the
        cultural practices of the community and State.  Also

 
 
        amends definition of "significant effect" to include
        adverse effects on cultural practices.

H.B. 3021  RELATING TO GASOLINE                          LRE, WAM
HD1        Prohibits the sale of gasoline that contains methyl
        tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE).  Establishes fines.
        Effective July 1, 2001.

H.B. 1893  RELATING TO ENERGY                                 LRE
HD1        Supports mitigations of greenhouse gas emissions.

H.B. 2526  RELATING TO USED OIL                               LRE
HD1        Clarifies that public notice and hearing requirements
        for used oil permits are not necessary unless the
        director determines that it is in the public interest.

H.B. 2556  RELATING TO SAFETY INSPECTION FREQUENCIES     LRE, WAM
HD1        FOR REGULATED EQUIPMENT
        Provides that the period between safety inspections
        not exceed seven months for regulated equipment.

H.B. 2565  RELATING TO GARMENT INDUSTRY HOMEWORK              LRE
        Repeals obsolete provisions and eliminates unnecessary
        regulations.


        DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.

Persons wishing to testify should submit 30 copies (single sided,
stapled, without holes) of their testimony to the vice-chair's
office, Room 217, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to the hearing.
Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to
the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659
(toll free for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the
hearing.  When faxing, please indicate to whom the testimony is
being submitted, the date and time of the hearing, and the
required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services
to participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language
interpreter, wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for
the disabled), please contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior
to the hearing so arrangements can be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the
measures and testimonies for the hearing will be available for
shared use by members of the public.
